words to ponder and pin {and cling to}: Psalm 22
This week I attended a labor and birth, and like always, it opens everything wide and amazes me. I went from the Children’s Hospital where Florence is, to a home and hospital across the water, where life was coming forth. Labor challenges: the ups and downs, the roller coaster, the unexpected. And then the release of birth, the small weight of a bundle of warm skin and groggy eyes, in your arms, somehow, the gift overwhelms and covers all the bumps along the way, and makes one forget, in a fog of deep love and joy. I love the references to birth and breastfeeding in the Bible.
God bless you all. It is beautiful, thanku for sharing. Take care
I just got home from the birth of a beautiful girl who we helped set at her mother’s breast. What a lovely image. As baby was latching we were chatting about how sometimes babies hardly need any help at all finding their way and others need to be gently guided and helped along. I just thought this post was so fitting and the perfect way to end off a morning for a nap… Before another baby makes their arrival into this world!
Oh I love that! What a beautiful image indeed. Thanks so much for sharing that! Birth, I can never get enough!
mmmm, I love psalm 22, and you’ve made beautiful art, as always. And I’m so glad you had a time of refreshing…
It’s funny how a long birth is refreshing to this heart 🙂 such a wonder!
